Working on such a nice day...

...is the pits!!! But it is Friday. :) I did go pick up fabric for Carter's bumper and skirt at King Cotton at lunch today & got to enjoy my sunroof down and the balmy 68 degree weather! So we have finally decided on fabrics for the nursery as of last w/e....YEA!! On Sat. I persuaded Justin to go with me to take the swatches I had accumulated over the past couple of months to Storkland and put them up to the bed and chair swatch to see what was going to work. I ended up deciding on my two favorite fabrics from the beginning, go figure. They really match perfectly and will look so good with the black furniture. The bumper and skirt will be the polka dot fabric and the curtains will be the striped green & blue silk. Justin really didn't care for the silk swatch at first but once I took him into Calico Corners he completely changed his mind. The lady pulled the fabric from the bolt and fixed it up like the curtain will actually look so you could visualize it better. Try to ignore all the other fabrics in the background of the pic but you can see the striped curtain fabric on the left & the polka dot fun fabric on the right.

We or I should say Justin is painting the nursery this w/e. The walls will have two shades of blue...a lighter blue above the chair rail we are putting up and a darker blue below. They are a soft sea blue color that goes with the fabric. We found out our furniture is in but they are waiting for the chair to come in in a few wks before they deliver it all. I can't wait to see it all put together & the room set up!!

To completely change the subject, my Dad & I had a lunch date yesterday & I was just tickled to hear that he reads my blog every now & then. Not sure why it got me all excited, I guess I was just happy to hear that my ramblings don't go to waste & someone actually reads them. :) He had asked how Lucky was doing which I completely forgot to update her status. After a $200 visit to the vet (she got her annual shots too which was about 1/2 of that) she is 100% back to normal. She did have a UTI and so the vet gave her a shot that was like a 14-day antibiotic so we didn't have to force any pills down her...that can be quite a challenge for a cat. The vet said it was the same shot that he gave her a few months back when she had her gash in her upper hip.

I had my 30 week appt yesterday which was quick and easy. Doc said everything looks great & she estimated he is about 2.5 lbs but everything else I read says he should be about 3 lbs. I can definitely tell he is growing & moving around a lot more...I've been getting quite a few jabs in the ribs the past couple of days. :)

We had our Infant CPR class on Wed. night from 6:30-9. We had to watch an actually pretty informative video about safety around the house & a lot of things that you wouldn't really think about. We practiced CPR for adults too and wow do you have to push hard on their chest! Justin kept saying "I don't hear the click" when I would do it b/c if you push down hard enough on the chest of the dummy it makes a clicking noise. It was a worthwhile class & I'm glad we signed up. The way to do CPR has changed a lot from when we learned back in Junior High too.

We have our first baby shower tomorrow night! Well, Justin's work threw a shower for us on Monday and got us a ton of great things. They are always so giving! Tomorrow night is a couples shower at Catharine & David's house which should be a lot of fun & we are looking SO forward to it!!

Brrrrrrrrr..........

Well it is mornings like this that really make you appreciate the fact that you have a garage!! I can't believe it was 10 degrees this morning with the wind chill that makes it feel like 0!!!! It might as well be snowing if it is going to be this cold so we could stay at home from work on this wonderful Friday morning. I do have a 3 day w/e so I can't complain too much but still.

Justin & I had to take poor Lucky Loo to the vet this morning b/c I am pretty sure she has a UTI (urinary tract infection). Her personality, eating habits, etc. have been normal but she has been excessively using the litter box for the past few days. Sometimes she just sits in it with her tail hanging out the door cutout for long periods of time. She doesn't look or act like she is in pain but that is not typical for her & she really doesn't use the litter box much anymore and just goes outside. Not to mention, on the way to the vet this morning which is literally maybe a mile from our house, she went potty in the back seat but it wasn't much. It is leather too so it wiped right up but that is not like her at all. It did take me back to when she was a kitten and I was taking her home from our old vet in Homewood which was quite a drive and I'm so glad we found a new vet we like over by our house. Anyway on the way home she kept meowing & climbing all over the car & even got up on the dashboard. I just thought she was antsy to get out of the car until she sat down in my lap and all of sudden I felt a warm, wet rush down my leg. Obviously she had to go to the bathroom & had no where else to go but in my lap!! Of course I'm driving and there was nothing I could do. The funniest part was that as soon as she started going she just looked up at me & almost grinned as if she was just relieved to be able to go. I'll never forget that moment. Well she was meowing and walking around this morning too so I should have known. Oh well. Now I am just waiting on the vet to call & give me the news...I will update later with her status. Oh & I almost forgot that today is her 2 year birthday & she's at the VET on her birthday...horrible.

Carter will NOT cooperate!

I had my 28 week appt. yesterday and things went great except that we tried to do another sonogram to see our sweet little baby's face & he still won't show it. He continues to keep it tucked up under him and she also tried to re-verify that he was a boy & she couldn't see anything there either. He had his feet tucked up under him too! Both the doctor and tech said they aren't thinking he has any issues such as a cleft lip or palate or they haven't seen anything before that makes them think that he does, they just want to check to be sure. It is part of the routine exam they do at 20 weeks and she said the one time they give up on looking he would have something. So oh well...maybe we'll try again next time. Of course I don't mind one bit b/c I get to do a sonogram everytime I go so I love it!! :)

The doctor said everything else looked perfect and she couldn't complain about a thing. His heart rate is down to 134 which is normal for a boy. I have gained a total of 15 lbs now...woohoo! I had to get the Rhogam shot for being A- blood type which they gave me in my "tushy" as the nurse called it & it was so not bad! Justin kept telling me that he heard it was "huge" but I didn't look & it only took a second. They also had to draw a vial of blood to do an anti-bodies check...another perk to having A- blood. :) She said they won't stick me again until 36 wks...yippee! Now I start going back every 2 wks instead of 4 & then at 36 wks I start going weekly. So my next appt. is 1/22. Carter will be here before we know it!!!

Yesterday morning I realized he had the hiccups for the first time or the first time I have ever felt them. It is such a funny little repetitive twitch or thump...it was making me giggle at my desk! :)

On a random note, I just wanted to say congrats to Florida for winning the National championship game last night...way to go SEC!! I do love me some Timmy Tebow! He is such an extraordinary person, an inspirational christian and obviously talented in so many other ways. It was a well deserved win for them last night & a great game to watch!

Happy Friday to all!!!!

It's 2009 already?!?!

Wow 2008 sure did fly by!!!! I'm back at work today unfortunately for a full 5 day week...yuck! I have only had to work about 3 days in the past 2 weeks, so this will be a LONG week for sure. The holidays were so nice to be off work and be able to spend time with our family and friends. The Sunday before Christmas I had some of my close friends over to the house for a little get together. Carrie was in town from Sacramento, Addy from Nashville, Jeni from Auburn, Jenny of course lives here now and Amy couldn't make it from ATL but she was there in spirit. :) We had some yummy appetizers & did a little dirty santa swap...I used my fondue pot for the first time and the chocolate dipped in fruit, vanilla marshmallows from Wm-Sonoma, angel food cake and pretzels were a big hit. We went to dinner after that at J. Alexander's...it was SO nice to see my girls!!! The week of Christmas was extremely busy with wrapping presents, cleaning, cooking and getting everything ready for having the fam over on Christmas day. We had our mothers, my brother and Justin's sister and our brother-in-law and niece over. Justin's grandfather had been in and out of the hospital the past week so they weren't able to make it. We had a huge feast as everyone made something to bring and opened presents. We were so stuffed that barely anyone could eat dessert. Later that night we went to my Dads to visit with them and then to Justin's Dads the next day for lunch. I was exhausted by the weekend!!!

We finally got a chance to go register for baby items even though we have already gotten a million things for the little guy!!! My mother has gone crazy on gifts. I think she is more excited than we are. :) Oh and we have finally decided on a name....CARTER!!!! He doesn't have a middle name yet but Matthew is winning so far so we'll see. Carter was my favorite boy name from the beginning and I think it flows well with Flurry. We registered at Babies R Us which was enough for Justin...you can be in that store forever!! I also did a registry at Pottery Barn Kids online and went to Target this past weekend to register there. I was a little apprehensive about registering at Target b/c supposedly you can't return anything without a gift receipt even if it is on your registry. So I tried to be selective and pick things I really liked or that are the same as items we picked at Babies R Us. Glad the registering part is over now but I still have to decide on fabrics so Sara can get started on the bedding and we can pick out paint colors!

Justin & I decided it would be fun to go to Auburn for New Years since there was a men's basketball game at 5:00, we could go eat at some of our favorite places and it would be fun just to get away for a night. We left mid-morning on New Years Eve and went to eat at Niffers for lunch and then shopped around for awhile. They have a new baby shop downtown which was suprising to see but we checked it out. It was pretty small and didn't have a ton of stuff or much AU stuff for that matter. I was craving a vanilla chai from Taylors Bakery but of course they were closed until today like a lot of the shops down there. Everything shuts down during the holidays since it becomes quite a ghost town w/o all the students. We checked into our room at the conference center and went to the guys game at 5 which they won! We went to eat at Mikata (our fav Japanese place ever) afterwards and then back to the hotel room to watch football and hangout. I think we were in bed by 10:30! We had a great time just the two of us and it was nice to drive around and see all the new stuff being built w/o a million people there for football.

This weekend we finished up organizing and cleaning the new office area downstairs at the house. Justin decided he wanted to move the office down in our basement room so that it wouldn't be off the guest bedroom anymore and so that he can work more from home during tax season and after Carter gets here. He ordered another desk and two more monitors so now he has 3 monitors to work with and a huge L shaped desk!! The room downstairs is big and was not really being utilized except for our treadmill and storing stuff so it really looks a lot better down there now. We also went to Thomasville and found a chest of drawers for the foyer. I can't wait 'til it gets delivered! I have been wanting something in that little alcove by the stairs since we moved in and finally found something I really like.

Tonight is the season premiere for the Bachelor and I'm having Ginger, Sara and Jennifer over for dinner to start our weekly ritual of taking turns having the girls over to eat and watch it! We fell in love with Jason last season and were so sad when Deanna picked Jesse over him!! I know it is sad that we get so excited over a show but it is really fun girl time & something I looked forward to every week! :)
