Silly boy

Whether the window is down...
or up...he still loves to hold this flower magnet in his mouth!
He is such a goob & I couldn't help but laugh when I had all the windows part way down & turned around to see him getting completely blown away! His face was priceless!! Life without this little boy is completely unthinkable!

Callie's 1st b'day

Just when I think I've been good about catching up on posts/pics...I find pics like this from a mo. ago...slacker I know! Callie had a "Wild about One" party in the middle of May. These first birthdays are so much fun especially since pretty much all of our friends have kids now & a lot around C's age.
Sweet Walker!
The birthday girl digging into her cake!
Spitting image of her Daddy.
My child making a goofy face...

Grass isn't his favorite thing, but he was pretty cool with this grass.
His favorite place to be...upside down!
How precious is her grass skirt?! It was one of her many presents & it came with a coconut shell top...too cute!

Ouch!

Yesterday marks the 3rd time Carter has been bit by the SAME child at school! I'm not naming any names b/c I think we have some mutual friends & I don't even think we are supposed to know who the culprit is but we do...thanks to his momma for ratting him out! Justin said after the first time it happened they were picking the kids up at the same time & she walked up to him & said "I'm so sorry that ____ bit Carter!". Of course I understand things happen & sometimes kids just do that b/c they don't know how else to express their anger or whatever. I'm just praying that C doesn't pick up any bad tricks, like this, from any of the kids there.

Carter's in jail?!?

Happy 60th Birthday to my Dad!! His b'day was Sat. so we had them & my brother over to celebrate. I cooked a late morning brunch for everyone & Shirley brought a delicious homemade chocolate cake for dessert. The icing was even homemade...yum!

At one point Carter managed to sneak away from everyone & wandered into our bedroom where he found Coco's crate. I guess he thought it looked like a fun place to play so he crawled right in.

What a mischievous face!

Working on his leg lifts I guess...silly boy.

The rest of the w/e was nice & pretty uneventful. We went to dinner on Fri. night with the newlyweds Chris & Jennifer (pics to come from their beautfiul wedding 2 wks ago at the beach). Sun. J went to do yard work at his grandmothers & C, me & my brother went to my moms to also do some yard work. Boy was it hot...this humidity is insane!!

14 mos & a flashback to 13

So I realized that I haven't blogged about Carter's 13 mo. milestones yet, so I will catch up on those first & then fill you in on what he is up to these days. I know some of you probably could care less about "what all Carter is up to" but this is for my records at least.

Carter @ 13 mos ~

Not walking yet but surfing over all of the furniture. Still drinking formula out of a bottle but we are working very hard on getting him off formula at least & then onto throwing out the bottle. He is so spoiled with it warmed up all the time too. He is still sleeping 7-7 or so & sometimes still goes to bed even earlier...he is pooped after playing at school all day! He is talking all the time (not full words yet), constantly laughing/giggling & is still obsessed with being upside down. He is still a Momma's boy but becoming more accustomed to going to Daddy now. He is eating only solids unless he doesn't eat any veggies & mommy will sometimes sneak in some veggie baby food. He is wearing mostly 18 mo. clothes but a good amount of 24 mo. as well. He has 10 teeth...4 on the top & bottom in front & a top molar on each side. I'm sure there is more I would've discussed a month ago but I can barely remember last week.

Carter @ 14 mos ~

We are WALKING!! He started actually taking steps on his own about a week before he turned 14 mo. & then actually started really walking a few days before...so he technically started walking right at the end of 13 mo. Slow going but glad we are finally there. He still isn't full fledge walking...he prefers to hold onto something & surf if he can but taking 10, 15 even 20+ steps at a time so we are doing great!

And thanks to his wonderful Shashe (Justin's mom) who kindly took care of him over Memorial Day w/e, he is off the bottle & formula!!! It was just cold turkey & we've never looked back. We are still struggling to get him to drink actually milk though...he was doing ok for a few days but here recently he will come home from school with only taking maybe a few sips. So I am hoping we can get him on the milk train very soon. I just don't want him to be missing out on all that good calcium. I know he can still get some from veggies, cereal, etc. but I am going to do my best to get him eating more yogurt, cheese, etc too. Justin mentioned adding some nesquick to the milk which we may try & I have read some things about kids not liking whole milk, which is what they recommend, but that they may like 2%. From what I have read, it sounds like they still can get all the good brain growth/nutrients from 2% so I'm ok with that. If anyone has any good suggestions on how to get him to like milk & whole milk preferably, I'm all ears!!

Carter graduated to his new class at school on June 1st. This has been a bit of a transition since he is in a whole new building now & they don't take a diaper bag with them anymore. He's a big kid now! Every week we just take a blanket & crib sheet on Mon & then everyday he just takes a sippy cup(s) with him & that's it. He does have some spare clothes there in a cubby hole but they don't have room to store all the diaper bags, not to mention they move rooms a lot, go outside & play everyday that it would make it difficult to keep up with them I guess. His schedule has totally changed too. They feed them breakfast until 8am & then they have lunch @ 10:30 (wouldn't be my choice) & then they only have 1 nap now instead of 2 from 11-1. Again not my favorite. I would think you would at least do a normal nap time 1-3 or 2-4 but whatever works for them is fine. He is still napping twice a day for us on the w/e. He is a great napper for us...normally around 2 hours or so.

One of his newer tricks is launching his extra (sometimes all of them) pacis from his bed at some point during the night. We always have to "hunt" for them since they are green or blue & match his crib skirt which is getting longer the more the bed gets lowered. I'm thinking he does this either before he goes to sleep or when he wakes up in the am...I guess he thinks it's fun to see how far he can throw it...working on his shot put. :)

We have 12 teeth now...one new molar on each side of the bottom. I think those were a bit painful coming in b/c for a few days he was extremely fussy at dinner time & would scream out sometimes when he bit down on something.

His personality is really coming out even more & it is so much fun that he is starting to understand, communicate & really process things. I would say his favorite thing to say right now is "uh-oh" but he also sort of says "get down". "Guh-guh-guh" is what he will constantly say & keep repeating but I haven't a clue what that means. He loves to clap & looks around to see who is watching & if they'll clap too. He learned how to climb the stairs recently & gets better every time he goes up. He can take off now up them but we are working on teaching him how to come down them properly & not face first. He has also figured how to open doors. We have the horizontal handles that you grasp & pull down so we were out buying locks for those today or at least for the doors to any stairs. Books are becoming much more interesting now...he used to just try to close them all the time. Bath time is very active...he loves to stand a lot & knock anything off the edge of the tub onto the floor. Still sleeping about 12 hours a night but he actually stayed up 'til 7:30 the past 2 nights...that's pretty big for him!

I guess that's about it for now. I hope everyone is having a great w/e!!

Mr. Personality

Just picked Tig up from the vet after dropping him off this am to get stitches taken out of his ear. He had a hematoma (I almost attached a link from wikipedia but decided I wouldn't make you gag with the gigantic picture of a guy's thigh with a little butt cheek showing that is off to the side) 3 weeks ago tomorrow on his ear. The vet said this is very uncommon in cats but is caused from them shaking their head profusely due to something in the ear or an ear infection which is what Tig had. They basically put them under & poke holes in the ear to help it drain & then come back 2 wks later to remove the stitches. Well I guess it didn't work the first time b/c his ear filled back up with fluid within a week & we were back at the vet forking out another $200+ to get this thing drained. Justin sarcastically mentioned just putting him down which I said was cruel & terrible & even though he basically sucks & has to stay locked up in his room downstairs, he still is a living being. I was shocked today that it was only ~$47...they have to gas him which is anywhere from $40-$60 usually since you can't even get a finger on him & then remove all the stitches & such. I didn't ask, gladly signed the receipt & was out the door. They see us so often with our 4 little cuties & I think the vet felt bad since it didn't work the first time & we almost had to come back a 3rd time after it started filling up a little again. Anyway I'm glad that's all over & we don't have to worry about checking his ear constantly. On a side note...I took Coco with me the first time I took him in to get her weight checked to see if she was big enough for her own box of heartworm meds (she'd been getting samples every mo)...she was already 39.5 lbs!! She will by far surpass Bailey in the height & weight category...I'm calling 70+ lbs. She's actually already the same height as B so we'll just have to see how tall she will be.

What's a post w/o some pics...just a few random shots of some of our "other" children...

I was sweeping the floor & stuck the kitchen mat out on the railing...when I went back out to get it, this is what I found. Anything that is out of place Lucky Loo must inspect & she loves to maker her self comfortable...hence the next few pics.

Coco being a bum...half on-half off her bed.

One Sat morning...

I was cooking breakfast (notice the empty egg carton...C thought it was fun to push around on the floor along with his typical remote in hand) & everyone decided to join me in the kitchen. Of course this is typical for the pups since they come running if there is ever any food in the vicinity.

Lucky is doing so much better with Coco & dealing with her high energy level...she is gracing us with her presence much more these days. Carter seems to not mind Coco as much either especially since he is walking much better now & can be more at her level. His "dog block" is pretty funny though when she gets close & he is on the floor he puts up both arms in front of his face since she loves to give lots of kisses...typical puppy. We are def. one BIG happy family!!

Doing the LL

as Daddy called it! (LL as in "LL Cool J"...actually heard "Doing It" on the radio on the way home today) These pics are a bit dated...I don't think C can fit in those shoes anymore but I am really trying to clean out the camera & catch up!!

A few firsts today

Today was a big day for Carter & me! Carter got his first haircut this afternoon which he desperately needed since his hair was getting on the verge of a mullet. He did so well & I really think it helped that we take him with us every time we get our haircut with Jaime so he can get used to the atmosphere.

Not really digging the cute penguin (they are my fav!) cape.
His hair before...

Daddy got his haircut too!
What are y'all about to do to me?!?

We love our Jaime!!
A good after shot!
All smiles!

Check out all of my teeth!

And I got to use my sewing machine for the first time tonight!! My MIL kindly offered to help/show me how to use it so I could hem my bridesmaid dress for Em's wedding that is this w/e...yes I waited 'til the last min! It was so much fun & I learned all sorts of things. I can't wait to get started on some projects. I think my first one will be something easy...I think I may make a pillow for Carter's chair in his room since I've got some leftover material from when my wonderful SIL made his awesome bedding & curtains. I figure that can't be too tough. Then maybe I can tackle a jon-jon or two...in all my spare time right?!? :)

Oh & a quick shout out to one of my best friends Amy who had her first sweet baby today...Blake Shaw Barnes!! Congrats to you, Ben & your whole family & I am just dying to get to ATL to meet him!!

We are officially...

WALKING!!!! Woohoo! It started last week at school with a few steps but he wouldn't do it for us & just like we thought, he really started taking 2 steps, then 3 then 5 at a time this past w/e!! He is getting better & better everyday. It took us a little while to get this video when we got home from the beach...he of course was trying not to walk for us. He'd hold up his legs when you try to stand him up...so silly.

I know I am ridiculously behind on updating. Carter turned 14 months on Sunday & I realized I never even wrote about his 13 mo. milestones. I have pics galore & lots to talk about...when do I not have lots to talk about! :) Updates coming soon...

This just in!

The little sweetheart that made this...
for me for Mother's Day took THREE steps at school today!!! That is three more than he has ever taken for us & don't worry, we've been really trying. I can get him to take maybe a half step on his own if I trick him to start walking holding my hand & then as he is taking a step, let go. We are working so hard on this, he just freaks if you let go of his hand & drops to the floor. He is doing really well at standing on his own though. I know he'll be walking soon. Justin said last night watch him start walking this w/e while we are gone to the beach for Memorial day w/o him. We will miss him terribly but with Justin being in a wedding & me having a bachelorette w/e all in Destin, there was no way we could take him too. I do have to say it will be nice to get away & have an adult w/e though!

I feel soooo behind on the blog since I can't get on it at work now. I have figured out how to get on everything on my bb at least (thank the Lord!) but it would be a challenge to update the blog on that so I will catch up soon I hope.

Ok gotta go. Justin just got back from his bball game so I am racing out to a friends to watch the bachelorette premiere & eat some yummy food! Ta ta for now!
